Getting Ahead Groups
MHA of Daviess County has trained volunteers to conduct small group meetings for people living in poverty to learn how to develop strategies to increase their job skills and their income. Previous groups have been conducted for churches, inmates at the DC Security Center, recovering addiction groups and parenting groups. Samaritan Center Advisory Board
The Samaritan Center provides mental health services in Knox, Daviess, Martin and Pike counties in Indiana. Residents from each county have the right to voice concerns and adocate for mental health services in their county of residence. If you or someone you know would be interested in learning about this advisory board, contact any of the MHA of Daviess County board members email addresses which are listed on this website under the "board members" section. Meetings are held quarterly at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Community Outreach
MHA of Daviess County provides an informational booth to any local/county event where it is fitting to distribute literature about mental health issues. Volunteers are need to "staff" the booth during events. If you know of an upcoming event where we can provide the booth or if you would like to help contact Beth Kirsch at 812-254-8366 Ext. 225
Friend to Friend
This program needs volunteers to spend time with nursing home residents who may have few or no visitors. You may read to residents, help them write letters or cards to friends/family or just be a good listener. For info contact Jan. Wahl at 812-254-7009
Christmas
The Christmas Gift Lift is conducted in conjunction with the Evansville State Hospital, our regional long term mental health facility. Gifts are provided for Daviess county residents who are living at the Evansville State Hospital each Christmas. If you would like to make a donation or assist with shopping please email us at dcmha47501@gmail.com prior to Nov. 1 each year.
